Yasmina Depas, Co-founder of Bloomy Cosmetics

I'm Yasmina Depas, co-founder of Bloomy Cosmetics, a skincare brand inspired by the botanical richness of Southeast Asia.

After more than 20 years in marketing, beauty, retail, and international brand development, I wanted to create something that truly reflected me: cosmetics that are more transparent, with simpler formulas, and more respectful — of both skin and the environment.

Bloomy was born from a simple conviction: the best skincare doesn't seek to transform the skin, but to help it do what it already naturally knows how to do — adapt, protect itself, and regain its balance. This is the philosophy I share here, through articles designed as conversations.

On this blog, I write about topics that drive us every day:

    • understanding your skin and its real needs,
    • deciphering ingredients without jargon,
    • making better skincare choices and avoiding cosmetic overconsumption,
    • highlighting natural active ingredients and their effectiveness,

My goal is simple: to make beauty more readable, more honest, and more useful. No miracle promises, no complicated discourse — just clear explanations to help everyone take care of their skin with more confidence.

    Thank you for reading 🌿

The kumquat, this small, sunny citrus fruit native to Asia, is a true powerhouse of nutrients.
Rich in fiber, vitamin C and antioxidants, it is one of the most powerful ingredients for health… and for the skin.

    🍊 Nutritional composition of kumquats

Per 100g of kumquats (approximately 5 small fruits), you will find:

    Calories: 71

    Carbohydrates: 15.9 g

Fiber: 6.5g (much more than most fruits!)

    Sugars: 9.4 g

    Lipids: 0.9 g

    Protein: 1.9 g

    Cholesterol: 0 mg

    Sodium: 10 mg

Potassium: 186 mg (5% of RDA*)

    *RDA = Recommended Daily Allowance

The kumquat also contains small amounts of omega-3 in its peel and seeds — yes, everything is edible!
Composed of almost 80% water, it is hydrating, satiating and low in calories: ideal as a healthy and portable snack.

🌿 1. A powerful antioxidant for the heart

    Kumquats are rich in:

    flavonoids

    phytosterols

    essential oils (including limonene)

Phytosterols have a structure similar to cholesterol:
    ➡️ they block its absorption
➡️ and can help lower blood cholesterol levels

    The antioxidants present in kumquats:
    • neutralize free radicals
    • protect against chronic diseases
    • reduce the duration of respiratory infections
    • support cardiovascular health

And its fresh scent? That's limonene, an antioxidant essential oil emblematic of citrus fruits.

👁️ 2. An ally for eye health

Kumquats contain vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene, as well as lutein and zeaxanthin.

    These carotenoids:

    protect the vision

support the production of rhodopsin (a protein essential for vision in low light)

contribute to maintaining clear and healthy vision

A small fruit that does a lot for our eyes.

    🛡️ 3. A natural immunity booster

Like all citrus fruits, the kumquat is a powerhouse of vitamin C, an essential antioxidant for:

    strengthen the immune system

    support white blood cell production

    reduce inflammation

    fight infections

It also contains antibacterial and antiviral flavonoids, making it a true ally in the fight against colds, fevers and minor seasonal ailments.

🍊 An ingredient that is as delicious as it is versatile

And beyond its health benefits, the kumquat brings a unique flavor to:
    • salsas,
    • desserts,
    • chutneys,
    • sauces,
    • sweet and savory preparations.

A fruit small in size, immense in its benefits, and deeply rooted in Asian traditions — and now at the heart of Bloomy formulas.

✨ Dare to glow — with the power of kumquat.
